From the Outside In

I have not posted for a few weeks as I was traveling; since I'm not sure if anyone is even reading these, perhaps no harm done.

I was in Dubai and then Nashville, quite a contrast, but would note a few things vis-a-vis the American Revolution, after over a week in the the Gulf.

Our leaders are on paid billboards when they campaign; they are not on large billboards in front of supermarkets and on the roadside as a reminder of where power lies.

Our separation of church and state is made apparent by comparison with a country where calls to prayer are broadcast on loudspeakers.

No value judgments, just two observations that we can trace back to the Revolution and its upshot.
